Suraksha Baral
Third-year Ph.D. student in Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics (AEDE)
About
I'm Suraksha Baral, a third-year Ph.D. student in Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics (AEDE) at The Ohio State University.
My research explores how individuals make everyday decisions that influence food systems, sustainability, and the use of technology. I'm especially interested in how economic behavior, social norms, and information drive actions related to food, the environment, and equity. I approach these questions through a combination of behavioral economics, policy analysis, and data-driven methods, including the application of machine learning for modeling and inference, often focusing on how subtle shifts in context can lead to significant changes in outcomes.
I'm also curious about the evolving role of technology, especially artificial intelligence, in shaping how we communicate, access information, and make decisions within agriculture and food systems.
